  • The Criminal Lawyers Association (CLA) has awarded the prestigious G. Arthur Martin Criminal Justice Medal to Patrick Ducharme.

The Martin Medal was struck in 1989 to honour Goldwyn Arthur Martin, a nationally prominent criminal lawyer and eminent jurist. It is awarded in recognition of lifelong achievement and sustained commitment to the principles and advancement of criminal justice in Canada.

Current CLA President John Struthers stated that “Mr. Patrick Ducharme is quite simply an inspiration to defence lawyers across Canada.  Hard work, perseverance, courage and collegiality are the trademarks of his practice.  He has inspired generations of lawyers through his teaching and mentorship.  While I personally believe defence work is the pinnacle of the legal profession, Mr. Ducharme has achieved the summit. We are so very proud he has accepted the G. Arthur Martin award in recognition of the universal respect and admiration of the entire justice system.”

    The presentation will include:

    • Welcome and introduction by John Struthers, President, Criminal Lawyers' Association
    • Presentations by several prominent legal professionals, colleagues and friends of the recipient to tell you more about Patrick Ducharme and his achievements
